aiReceptionist vs Phonely
Phonely is a platform for building voice AI agents, inbound and outbound, with a free tier and per-minute plans; aiReceptionist is a finished receptionist you configure or have built for you, on per-minute plans with a managed-service option.
Phonely and aiReceptionist both bill by the minute, so the pricing is easy to set side by side. The real difference is who builds the agent: Phonely gives you a builder, aiReceptionist gives you a receptionist.

When Phonely is the better choice
Phonely is the better choice when you have someone who will build and tune the agent, a founder who likes tooling, an operations lead, or an agency, and you want a builder rather than a product. Its visual workflow builder, templates, A/B testing on Pro and SIP trunking on Enterprise are a developer’s toolkit, and ours is a receptionist.
It is also the right choice if you need outbound calling now, callers in many languages (it publishes 100+), a HIPAA business associate agreement, or a free tier to prototype on before spending anything. We do not sell outbound calls today, we do not publish a language list, and our free trial is a trial of a paid plan.
What switching actually involves
- Export your call logs, transcripts and any custom reports from Phonely while your plan is active.
- Write down what your Phonely agent does, the knowledge it was trained on, its transfer rules and its booking calendar, and give the same brief to aiReceptionist, or to us on a managed plan.
- Reconnect your calendar and CRM through aiReceptionist’s Zapier or post-call sync.
- Repoint the number: change the forward on your own line, or ask Phonely about porting a number it issued.
- Run both on split hours during the free trial and compare the summaries and bookings before cutting over.
Questions people ask
- How does Phonely pricing compare with aiReceptionist?
- Phonely publishes a Free plan with 100 minutes, Starter at $50 per month for 200 minutes, Pro at $150 per month for 650 minutes and Enterprise from 5¢ a minute, with overage from $0.25 to $0.35 a minute. aiReceptionist is $99/Month for 200 minutes, $350/Month for 500 and $1,000/Month for 1,500, with overage at $0.60 a minute ($0.50 on Enterprise).
- Is Phonely a receptionist or a development platform?
- Its site describes it as a place to build and optimize AI agents across voice, chat, SMS and API, with a visual workflow builder and public templates. aiReceptionist is a receptionist you configure in a portal, or have built for you on the managed plans.
- Does Phonely do outbound calls?
- Yes, outbound calling is listed on every Phonely plan. aiReceptionist places outbound calls one at a time when you ask it to from the portal, with the number to call, the number it calls from and what to say.
- Is Phonely HIPAA compliant?
- Its homepage states SOC 2, GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA and PCI compliance, and its pricing page lists a HIPAA BAA on the Enterprise plan. We do not make a HIPAA claim on our pricing page; ask us before relying on one.
- Which is easier to set up without technical help?
- Phonely publishes that 70% of its businesses get started in under five minutes using templates. aiReceptionist’s managed plans include white-glove onboarding, so nobody on your side has to build anything.
