Call recording
Call recording is the capture and storage of the audio of a phone call so it can be replayed later for review, training, dispute resolution or compliance.
Also called: voice recording, call audio
Recordings are the ground truth behind transcripts and summaries: when a detail is disputed, the audio settles it. They are also how a business checks how its receptionist actually sounds.
Recording is regulated. Many jurisdictions require that at least one party, and in some, every party, consents, which in practice means a disclosure at the start of the call. Retention is a separate decision: how long recordings are kept, who can access them, and how they are deleted.
