Text the caller a link, directions or a confirmation while they are still on the phone.

SMS is your AI receptionist sending and receiving text messages as part of a workflow. On a call, it can text the caller a link or a detail you chose in advance. The message is a Global Tool: you write it once, and the receptionist uses it whenever a caller asks.

How AI receptionist texting works

  1. Add an SMS tool

    In Global Tools, choose the SMS tool type. Give it a name and a description the receptionist can match to a request.

  2. Write the message

    Outerbanks HVAC texts its scheduling link, obxhvac.com/scheduling. One tool per intent: send the booking link, send directions, book a callback.

  3. aiReceptionist texts from your number

    Register your caller ID so the text arrives from a number your customers recognize, not a stranger’s.

In the portal

Call Handling › Workflows › Global Tools

The Global Tools card starts empty, with a plus button. Add the SMS tool before your first test call. Texts your receptionist sends appear in Messages, under the Texts filter.

    They ask where to book online. The receptionist texts the link while they are still talking.

    Reading an address aloud loses people. A text with the address does not.

Can the receptionist text anything it likes?
No. It sends the messages you wrote as Global Tools, when a caller’s request matches the tool’s description.
Which number do the texts come from?
The number you register under Caller-ID Registrations. Register the number on your van and your Google listing.
Are texts included in my plan?
Each plan includes a number of texts per month. The pricing page lists them, with the cost of extra texts.
