Post-call SMS confirmation

A post-call SMS confirmation is a text message sent to the caller after the call restating what was captured (an appointment, an address, a request), so they can confirm or correct it.

Also called: text confirmation, SMS recap

The single weakest point of any automated call is a mis-heard detail. A confirmation text puts the captured facts in front of the person who knows whether they are right and gives them an easy way to say so.

It also sets expectations: the caller has a written record of what will happen next. Corrections sent in reply can update the booking or the record, and the correction rate is a useful accuracy metric.

Texting a caller requires a basis under telemarketing and messaging rules, and callers on landlines will never receive it, so the fallback for those cases must be designed rather than assumed.
