Voice selection

Voice selection is choosing the synthetic voice a receptionist speaks with (its gender, accent, age and style) from a set of available text-to-speech voices.

Also called: TTS voice, AI voice options

The voice is the first thing a caller notices and shapes whether they trust the conversation. A selection lets a business match the voice to its brand and its callers: a regional accent, a calmer pace, a warmer register.

Voices are produced by text-to-speech models. Their naturalness varies, and so does their latency, which matters more on a phone call than in a recording.

A voice is part of the agent persona; the two are usually chosen together.
