Built-in CRM
A built-in CRM is a contact and interaction database included inside a product. Call history, contact details and tags are kept without connecting an external customer relationship management system.
Also called: native CRM, embedded contact database
Many small businesses do not run a CRM. A receptionist that requires one before it can remember callers or attach notes is asking the customer to adopt a second product first. A built-in CRM removes that prerequisite: every caller becomes a contact record automatically, with the calls, summaries and tags attached.
It is deliberately lighter than a full sales CRM, contacts, history, tags and simple follow-up rather than pipelines and forecasting. Businesses that outgrow it export or sync to a dedicated system.
Holding customer contact data also raises the data-protection bar for the product holding it: retention, export and deletion all need clear answers.
